State Senator Cecil Staton Speaks to AAF Central Georgia
The American Advertising Federation (AAF) Central Georgia chapter is pleased to have State Senator Cecil Staton as their speaker for the November meeting. The meeting, to be held at 12:00noon on Thursday, November 19, 2009 at Logan’s Roadhouse in Macon, Georgia, will cover the topic of advertising legislation.
Senator Cecil Staton’s work in advertising and marketing as well as his political background make him an expert on the current legislation that would greatly affect local advertising and marketing companies. Staton is owner of the Warner Robins Patriot, WNNG FM, WDXQ FM and WQXZ FM. He was first elected to the Senate in 2004 to represent the 18th Senatorial District. He was re-elected in 2006 and 2008 without opposition. He serves as chairman of the Senate Science and Technology Committee. He is also a member of the Senate Appropriations Committee, sitting on three sub-committees, and is Vice-Chairman of the sub-committees on Community Health and Higher Education. Additionally, he serves on the Finance, Transportation, Retirement, and Veterans, Military, and Homeland Security committees.
AAF Central Georgia is the American Advertising Federation ad club for the Middle Georgia region. Meeting monthly, the club organizes professional education and social activities for members and visitors. Co-President Elizabeth Spear is excited to have Staton speaking at the November meeting, saying “With the possibility of advertising taxes and limitations on restaurant advertising looming, it is imperative that we educate the local advertising and marketing companies. Senator Staton will be able to give us the basic knowledge we need to help prevent this type of legislation.”
American Advertising Federation is a nationwide network of marketing and advertising professionals. Known as the unifying voice for advertising, AAF connects 40,000 professionals and 7,500 students through its 200 ad clubs and 225 college chapters. The Federation represents and lobbies for all individuals and businesses which are influenced by the advertising world. AAF is currently working to combat legislation that will negatively affect these fields.
